  • What do I need to make a tracemap?

    You will need a .gpx file downloaded to your computer to make your tracemap.

    For this you need to have either recorded your adventure with a GPS device or to have plotted your route on a service that will allow you to export a GPS file.

    If your GPS file is not in the .gpx format you can use this service to convert it http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do.

    Once you have your .gpx file on your computer, click on the Map creator button below, and upload it to begin configuring your tracemap.

  • How do I download a .gpx file to my computer?

    This will depend on which service is storing your GPS data. Common GPS hosting services include Strava, Garmin Connect, and Runkeeper but there are many more. Please see the explanations below for how to export a .gpx file to your computer for the common services below.

  • Can I make a tracemap from multiple files?

    Yes! you can upload multiple files which will be stitched together on the map to depict your whole journey.

    On the Map Creator or Custom Map pages click on the Choose File(s) button. When the popup window appears Hold Ctrl, or Command on an Apple, to select multiple files with your mouse.

  • My files wont upload what should I do?

    We are really sorry you are having difficulty uploading your files, please bear with us.

    Please try to send them to us though our Custom map feature by clicking on the link below. You will be able to upload your files, enter your contact details, and leave a message to say you had problems uploading conventionally.

    We will let you know we have received your files within 24 hours and should be able to say whether we have got them working or not. Once we have we will make draw up your map and send a preview for you to review.

  • I’d like to give a tracemap as a gift, but don’t have my recipient's files. How can I do this?

    Great! tracemaps sell gift cards which can be purchased to give as presents. These can be ordered online and are posted to you to give to your recipient.

    Click on the gift card button below, then select the print size and whether it is framed or not to calculate the value of the present.

    After you have entered your delivery address and made your purchase a gift card and envelope are posted to you so you can add a personalized message.

    Each gift card contains a unique voucher code which can be redeemed by your recipient at our checkout after they have configured their tracemap.

    Please allow 7 days from the day you place your order for your gift card to arrive with you.

  • What sports does tracemaps work with?

    tracemaps works with any activity whose global position can be tracked and output or converted into a .gpx file. We think our maps work really well with the following sports:

    Cycling, Running, Walking, Hiking, Snow sports, Water sports (except underwater sports such as diving), and flying. Upload your data and give it a go!

  • How much does a tracemap cost?

    Prints vary in price depending on their size and your preferred framing options. Prints without frames cost £60 for A2 and £80 for A1. Framed prints cost £105 for A2 and £140 for A1.

    We can create custom prints on request and quote for each job based on the complexity of your request. Contact us to begin discussing your print.

  • What happens if my purchase arrives and it’s damaged?

    We package our prints and frames up very carefully, inspecting them before they leave us but in the unlikely event that your purchase has been damaged in transit we will do our best to correct this for you.

  • I have more questions, who can I speak to about my print?

    If you need to speak to one of us here at tracemaps please send an email to hello@tracemaps.com along with your name, a brief description of your enquiry and your contact number and we will get back to you.

Delivery and returns

  • Delivery

    We will aim to deliver your items as quickly as possible but please allow up to 7 days for prints and gift cards and 14 days for framed prints to arrive from the date you place your order. These longer lead times are due to the bespoke nature of our maps as they are made to order.

  • Returns

    Our standard size picture frames, A1 or A2 in size, can be returned for a full refund or exchanged for a different colour up to 30 days after your purchase.

    Gift cards can also be fully refunded or exchanged up to 30 days after your purchase.

    tracemap prints however cannot be refunded as they are unique to you and cannot be resold. You can preview your print on screen before placing your order.

    Please note: Customers are responsible for ensuring all customised spellings, names and statistics that appear on their prints are correct before placing their order. Refunds will not be given if these have been entered incorrectly.

    If you are eligible to return your frame for a refund or exchange please ensure it is undamaged and returned in its original packaging to the address below. Please send an email to hello@tracemaps.com stating whether you would like a refund or exchange.

    Customers are responsible for paying the return delivery fee and are advised to return their packages by a recorded delivery method with an adequate insurance value.
